21st February 2011The Ekoroad platform features a global reservation system which allows prospective passengers to reserve seats in available vehicles. If a driver approves a reservation request, the passenger is emailed a travel ticket that can be printed for later presentation to the driver.
Mobile ticketing application :
The ticketing platform will soon be complemented by a mobile smartphone application that will allow drivers to :
- validate immediately the received tickets
- report location at time ticket is validated.
With camera smartphones starting to be all around, we will start deploying this in a few months.

In a web based ride sharing platform, they are a few challenging problems that needs to be solved :
- If people are to rely on the mutual evaluation system , what can be done to prevent cheating ?
- If the platform is to allow mutual payments, how do you check that the service was really delivered ?

- Mutual evaluation that will be received after an along the road ticket validation will be given higher trust.
- Money value of prepaid tickets will be transferred to the driver only after tickets have been validated on his smartphone.

- A passenger receives 2 copies of the same ticket in an A4 sized PDF document.
